Eleanor McCain in Performance at Fogo Island Inn
On Saturday, April 21, 2018, Fogo Island Inn is pleased to welcome vocalist Eleanor McCain for an intimate performance in support of Shorefast and the release of her latest project, True North: The Canadian Songbook.
Hailing from Florenceville, New Brunswick, this triple ECMA-nominated classical crossover specialist has recorded six albums, toured with noted JUNO-nominated jazz singer Matt Dusk, and accompanied symphonies across Canada. True North: The Canadian Songbook was released in May 2017 as a celebration of Canadian pop songs set to orchestra in honour of Canada’s 150th Anniversary of Confederation. Emmy Award-winning composer Don Breithaupt produced the double album of 32 iconic pop and folk songs reimagined by 14 arrangers from coast to coast to coast. Meant as a tribute to the people, songwriters, musicians, photographers and landscapes of Canada, the songs were recorded with some of the country’s foremost orchestras, including the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra, Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony, Orchestre symphonique de Québec, National Arts Centre Orchestra, Newfoundland Symphony Orchestra, Symphony New Brunswick, Symphony Nova Scotia, Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, Victoria Symphony, and Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra. The album release was also accompanied by a visual companion—a bilingual coffee table book similarly celebrating Canada’s most iconic landscapes, as captured by 22 prominent Canadian photographers and co-curated by renowned portrait photographer V. Tony Hauser.
Eleanor’s 90-minute performance at Fogo Island Inn will take place in the Gathering Hall at 7:30PM and include favourites from True North: The Canadian Songbook, such as Hallelujah, A Case Of You, and Song for The Mira. She will be accompanied by her full band, featuring musicians Don Breithaupt on piano, Justin Abedin on guitar, Russ Boswell on bass, and Mark Kelso on drums.
