Historic Launch of Weekly Air Service to Fogo Island

Today, Monday, April 23, 2018, is a historic day for the Central Newfoundland region as EVAS Air launches a weekly air service to Fogo Island.

Two daily flights are available Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, with departures from Gander International Airport (YQX) at 7 am and 4:30 pm, and departures from the Fogo Island airstrip, Fogo Aerodome CDY3, at 8 am and 5:30 pm. Flying time is approximately 20 minutes.

EVAS will also be offering an optional shuttle service for passengers 1 hour prior to the afternoon Gander departure from one of 4 locations: Gander International Airport Terminal, Wal-Mart, Fraser Mall, or James Paton Memorial Hospital.

EVAS Air will operate an 18-seat Twin Otter aircraft, the highly adaptable aircraft well-suited for Canada’s ever-changing northern climate and terrain. The service will serve as an alternate means of transportation to the ferry. EVAS Air also plans to operate a courier service to serve the business community. A one-way ticket is $125 and can be booked via EVAS Air’s website here.
