Flora and Fauna Encounters
Fogo Island Inn invites guests to take a walk on the wilder side this Summer. For Fogo Islanders, Summer is more than just a season—it’s a feeling, encompassing the place-specific cacophony of sights, sounds, scents, textures, and touches that will bring travellers back to what is truly real and natural, and maybe even back to themselves. Summer on Fogo Island is inextricably tangled up with nature, and there may be no better way to explore this island off an island than with local guides and Community Hosts, who are avid outdoors enthusiast and experts on any field of Fogo Island flowers, wildlife paths, nesting grounds, or berry-picking hills.
The Flora and Fauna Encounters experience is made for intrepid, curious, and discerning high-comfort explorers who wish to fully immerse themselves in the still-wild world of Fogo Island through a range of outdoor hikes, foraging excursions, and adventurous exploration. Guests will receive a limited-edition copy of Todd Boland’s book, “Wildflowers of Fogo Island and Change Islands” to further enhance their discovery of this singular place during Summer Season, and take a bit of the Island back home with them to their corner of the Earth.
The Flora and Fauna Encounters itinerary at Fogo Island Inn includes: all meals, an Island Orientation with a Community Host, a half-day excursion with a local naturalist and guide, a copy of Todd Boland’s “Wildflowers of Fogo Island and Change Islands,” and full use of the Inn’s facilities. A three-night minimum stay is required. To reserve, call direct at +1 709 658 3444, toll-free (US & Canada) at +1 855 268 9277, or email [email protected]
