Celebrate Thanksgiving with Hey Rosetta!’s Tim Baker
September and October make up Berry Season on Fogo Island, Newfoundland. The bounty of the season will be celebrated over Canadian Thanksgiving Weekend (Friday, October 5 to Monday, October 8, 2018) with a multi-faceted line-up of adventurous programming on this island off an island in the North Atlantic. This year, a veritable outport celebration is in store when Fogo Island's annual Partridgeberry Harvest Festival coincides over the holiday weekend with a very special live performance by Newfoundland-born musician Tim Baker at Fogo Island Inn.
Best known as the writer and frontman of the much-acclaimed group, Hey Rosetta!, Tim’s Juno-nominated, Polaris-shortlisted band brought poetic, powerful alternative music and sweeping, high-energy live shows all over the world for over a decade. In 2014, the band released a series of live songs recorded on Fogo Island taken from their album Second Sight, as well as a video "Soft Offering (For The Oft Suffering)" recorded in the Fogo Island Arts' Long Studio. Now embarking on creative projects as a solo artist, Tim has been in-studio with producer Marcus Paquin working on narrowing down over 30 songs into a single, cohesive record. A wonderfully imaginative songwriter, thoughtful poet, playful arranger, and technically profound musician in his own right, Tim will be giving an intimate post-supper performance at Fogo Island Inn on the evening of Saturday, October 6, 2018, playing favourites from Hey Rosetta!’s catalogue as well as debuting his new material mere weeks prior to its official release. The weekend’s Thanksgiving festivities will also include explorations of Fogo Island foodways, from berry-picking through the Island’s barrens and bogs, to a traditional outdoor boil-up on the hills, and a sumptuous Thanksgiving Sunday Supper culled from the bounty of the island’s unique land- and seascapes. Guests will also be invited to attend the Partridgeberry Harvest Festival, which spans the entire holiday weekend (October 6-8, 2018) at the Iceberg Arena, showcasing the best of Fogo Island’s rich community of makers, bakers, artists, and artisans.
