A Very Special Jeremy2 Charles2 Feast
Join us for a collaboration between two Newfoundland chefs whose wildly creative approach to our natural larder has garnered them a place on the world stage: Jeremy Charles (Raymonds) and Timothy Charles (Fogo Island Inn) will join forces to serve up a 7-course feast in celebration of this place. Raymonds sommelier, Jeremy Bonia; Kyle Gartlan-Close, (Nimmo Bay Resort, Vancouver Island); and Fogo Island Inn’s Wine Steward & Maître d’, Kim Cyr, will also co-create revelatory wine-and-spirit pairings—and a full weekend of programming.
During your stay at Fogo Island Inn, you’ll explore Fogo Island with Community Hosts who hold deep-rooted knowledge of our foodways. From the turf-roofed root cellars to the ochre fishing stages to the rocky shoreline, where edible plants and berries grow in tangles, you’ll be immersed in our distinctive culinary culture.
And you can hear Jeremy Charles talk about the people, culture and landscapes that have shaped his modern coastal cuisine, at an intimate book signing. Copies of Wildness: An Ode to Newfoundland and Labrador, will be available for purchase both at the time of booking and during your stay.
Throughout the weekend, Jeremy Bonia and Kim Cyr will be programming wine and spirits events, where you can sip, reflect, ask questions and soak in their extensive knowledge. They’ll be teaming up to offer a sparkling wine seminar, sabering demonstration, and a blind-tasting challenge, among other interactive experiences.
The highlight of the weekend will be “A Very Special Jeremy2 Charles2 Feast,” a 7-course supper showcasing the foodways of Fogo Island and Newfoundland. Each course will be paired with thoughtfully selected wines that elevate the elements on the plate and play on the delicate flavours of our wild botanicals.
As well as preparing a weekend of gastronomical pleasures, we’ve carved out time for guests to immerse themselves in Fogo Island’s nature and the Inn’s serene spaces. Our menu of wellness activities will include candlelit yoga, guided mindfulness walks, and a wild medicinal teas workshop.
Your stay at Fogo Island Inn, starting Nov. 19, will include all meals (other than the special dinner), land excursions, and full use of the Inn’s facilities, such as the rooftop hot tubs, saunas, and cinema.
