All Things Fly Fishing
We’re hosting a new and unique event for March Break 2023, in partnership with Newfoundland fly-fishing outfitters Tight Loops Tight Lines. From March 11-14, the fly-fishing enterprise founders (and co-hosts and producers of the television series of the same name), Kastine Coleman and Terry Byrne, will join us at Fogo Island Inn to lead an outdoors adventure with a fishy theme. They’ll get you kitted out and take you ice-fishing and fly-casting, during our Pack Ice Season—a time of glittering ice- and snow-scapes.
As well as learning expert tricks to up your fishing game, you’ll revel in a traditional boil-up outdoors, featuring the catch of the day. Back indoors, in the cozy atmosphere of the Inn, Kastine and Terry will also teach the art of fly-tying, a meditative activity dating back to 200 A.D. Using feathers, thread and hand tools, you’ll master the skills required to replicate a fly, which can be used for attracting fish during fly fishing.
And when you’re not busy with all things fly fishing, you can explore the wild nature of Fogo Island by hiking, snowmobiling or snowshoeing on and off our trails, depending on the weather. We also invite you to make full use of the Inn’s amenities, such as our rooftop hot tubs—perfect for stargazing—private cinema, and library of Newfoundland and Labrador literature, to make for a deeply relaxing March Break getaway.
About Kastine Coleman & Terry Byrne
Kastine and Terry are co-hosts and producers of the television show Tight Loops Tight Lines, which airs on the World Fishing Network and Sportsman Canada. They run a fly-fishing guiding business for Atlantic Salmon and a fly-fishing school in Newfoundland and Labrador. As conservation-minded anglers and teachers, they aim to inspire a new generation of young anglers. Kastine is a mother of three, a Fly Fishers International casting instructor, the Canadian ambassador for Fly Fishers International, and a director with the organization, as well as local conservation group SPAWN.
