Culinary Adventure with Chef Hugh Acheson

Join Chef Hugh Acheson at Fogo Island Inn, November 18-21, 2022, for a culinary adventure. You'll gather over craft cocktails with Chef Hugh and our Executive Chef Tim Charles, for an intimate welcome reception on the opening evening of this one-time event for food lovers. Then over the following days, you'll explore the foodways of Fogo Island. Experience the camaraderie of a traditional boil-up, cooked over an open fire with Community Hosts. Take a nature hike and wild tea tasting with our Outdoor Adventure Guide. And try making jam and jelly with locally harvested berries, or relax over a sherry tasting with our Maître d’.

The event will culminate with a special supper (with optional wine pairings), inspired by our island’s natural larder—created by Chef Hugh Acheson and executed by the Fogo Island Kitchen Team.

About Hugh Acheson: A chef, author, and restaurateur Hugh Acheson is the chef/owner/partner of the Athens, Georgia, restaurants 5&10 and the Atlanta restaurant Empire State South, as well as the founder of the National, a landmark restaurant in Athens, and the coffee chain Spiller Park. He has authored six bestselling cookbooks, and his 2012 title, A New Turn in the South, won a James Beard Award for Best Cookbook in the category “American Cooking.” Food & Wine Magazine named him Best New Chef in 2002 and the James Beard Foundation named him Best Chef Southeast in 2012. Hugh competed in Bravo’s Top Chef Masters, Season 3 and starred as a judge on Top Chef. He also appears on Iron Chef Canada and Wall of Chefs in Canada.
