A Weekend of Wine Appreciation with Ian D’Agata
Fogo Island Inn welcomes multi-award winning wine writer Ian D'Agata for a weekend exploration of food and wine culture, Fogo Island's relationship with our traditional European trading partners, and of course, the almighty cod.
Author Ian D’Agata has been following wine for over thirty years. His book Native Wine Grapes of Italy, considered the bible of Italian wine, was the Louis Roederer International Wine Awards Book of the Year in 2015 and named one of the top wine books of the year by the LA Times, the Financial Times, and the New York Times. He is the senior editor of Vinous and the Creative Director of Collisioni’s Wine and Food Project—Italy’s largest music, literature, wine and food festival. A researcher and an official academic of Italy’s prestigious Accademia della Vite e del Vino, he has also taught culture of Italian wine and tasting for New York University’s Master’s Program in Food Sciences, lectured in wine marketing for the University of Rome Tor Vergata, and was the Scientific Director of the Italian International Indigenous Center for Wine and Food Studies (3iC).
Twice nominated as the best wine journalist in Italy by the Comitato Grandi Cru d’Italia, Ian has also received the 2018 VQA Promoter Award, the 2017 Cuvée Award of Excellence for wine writing and promotion, and a Les Plumes d’Or nomination in 2016 as one of the world’s eight most important and influential wine writers as voted on by France’s winemakers and star chefs. Ian's visit to Fogo Island comes on the heels of the release of his newest book, Italy’s Native Wine Grape Terroirs, which will be published in August 2019.
