The Secrets of Sleep: A Life-Changing Retreat
October 13 - 17, 2021
When was the last time you had a good night’s sleep?
Our relationship with sleep can be complicated at the best of times, and this past year has had many of us tossing and turning, long after we switch off the bedroom light. Quality sleep is vital for the body and mind to reset, and to give our unconscious mind an opportunity to process the day's events. We invite you to bring your focus inward and join us for a three-day, four-night restorative learning retreat at Fogo Island Inn, led by Dr. Colleen Carney, Director of the Sleep and Depression Laboratory at Ryerson University, Toronto.
Through daily workshops, you will learn how to heal your relationship with sleep. You can complement these learning sessions with time outside in the fresh air and soothing natural world of Fogo Island. There will also be opportunities for morning yoga or evening meditation, and unscheduled time to relax and use the Inn’s indoor amenities, perhaps by journaling in our library, sipping a warm drink by one of our woodburning stoves, or unwinding in our rooftop hot tubs as you take in the expanse of the North Atlantic or the starry night sky. Year-round, many guests report drifting off effortlessly during the nights they spend at Fogo Island Inn. It's so soothing to lie beneath a comforting handmade quilt, tuckered out after a day of fresh air and healthy outdoor activities, and lulled into a state of deep relaxation by the steady sounds of the waves outside your bedroom window. Between the inherently soothing qualities of a stay at our Inn and the science-based sleep teachings of Dr. Carney, our sleep retreat is sure to help you get a good night's sleep--and the benefits will endure long after you've left our shores.
Additional cost: $1,100 per person
