Love (The) Birds Package

Bird and nature lovers—and those who’re simply celebrating their own love—are winging their way to Fogo Island Inn, Newfoundland, for Valentine’s weekend, 2016. Fogo Island—a winter home to over 350 species of birds—has nature lovers of all aflutter over Fogo Island Inn’s two-night Love (the) Birds Weekend beginning Friday, February 12 through to Sunday February 14, 2016.

Amid the tempestuous drama of crashing waves and the shimmering glitter of wintry landscapes, you’ll cross paths with caribou and the occasional fox as you head out with a resident naturalist to observe native birds. Bald eagles, snow buntings, rock ptarmigans, harlequin ducks and glaucous gulls are among the winged winter residents regularly sighted gliding and swooping on Fogo Island’s shores. Thanks to the tempering influence of the Atlantic, the climate is surprisingly mild here in winter, so the great outdoors is inviting, whether for birding, ocean skating, snowshoeing or skidooing.

The full-board Love (the) Birds Weekend two-nights-minimum package begins at $1,375 per night, exclusive of taxes, and is based on two persons sharing. (Solo travellers deduct $200 from the base rate.) Family suites are available, should you like to bring your fledglings, and the package includes: all meals, a wine-chocolate-and-cheese pairing, a guided bird watching outing, and (weather permitting) skating, snow-shoeing, caribou tracking or cross-country skiing.
