Experience Rock + Water

Overnight Accommodations: Neddie's Harbour Inn
Pricing starts from $3,489 CAD per guest

Our partners at Rock + Water are now offering this exclusive experience for guests of Fogo Island Inn. Spend the day with Indigenous fishing guides local to the Gander area on the world-renowned Gander River.

For the interested angler, the 50km Gander River boasts over 25,000 return salmon annually. The area has limited road access, but your pilot and guide are well-versed in the area and will find amazing spots to cast your line, no matter your level of experience.

This helicopter excursion can be complemented by a trip in a Gander River Boat. These boats were designed for navigating the Gander River and its tributaries and were once the only way settlers travelled between Newfoundland’s coastal and inland settlements. Now, these boats are used for recreational salmon fishing and travel along the Gander River.

Most of this pristine wilderness is only accessible by riverboat and the area’s seasoned guides have spent their lives learning each rattle and steady of this iconic river system. Their expertise and innate knowledge of the region offer an enhanced experience, as in addition to sharing information about the area and fishing, they may scout the shoreline for the appearance of other wildlife, like moose, bears, foxes, and even eagles.

The riverboat then brings you to the head of Gander Bay where your helicopter and pilot will be waiting, ready to get you back to the Inn in time for supper.

This full-day adventure is offered exclusively for Fogo Island Inn guests. Fishing gear and lunch are included. NL Fishing license included.
