Grab a Cone (or Two) at Growlers
Established in 2009, Growlers is a one-of-a-kind ice cream shop located in the community of Joe Batt’s Arm on Fogo Island, Newfoundland. Featuring locally-crafted, regionally-inspired flavours, Growlers’ signature recipes were imagined by Chef Michelle Leblanc in collaboration with a local team well-versed in the natural assets of Fogo Island. From partridgeberry jam tart to caramel and jam-jam cookie, the varieties have been refined throughout the last decade and provide a delicious window into the favoured flavours of this remote Island place. Open from 11 am to 9 pm daily, Growlers is operated by the world-renowned Fogo Island Inn under the guidance of Executive Chef Jonathan Gushue. The cozy shop includes ample seating for patrons to sit and take in the coastal view speckled with traditional fishing stages, including a back picnic deck. Or, take your ice cream “to go” with convenient takeaway options which include another 2018 addition: Newfoundland’s Bonavista Coffee.
