New Private Charter Service for Fogo Island Inn Guests
Guests of Fogo Island Inn now have the opportunity to make shorter airport connections and enjoy longer weekends on Fogo Island this Summer and Berry Season. A newly-launched private charter service operated by EVAS Air combines overnight accommodation at Fogo Island Inn with convenient direct flights. The service will fly guests return from Halifax, Nova Scotia (YHZ) to Fogo Island, Newfoundland (CDY3) on Fridays and Mondays, beginning July 12 through to September 9, 2019.
Fogo Island Inn’s new private charter service is by way of a Beech 1900D with a capacity of 9 passengers per flight, and flies direct to Fogo Island from Halifax International Airport in just 120 minutes. The service will facilitate more direct connections from the Inn’s main Canadian, USA, UK, and European markets.
Amanda Decker Penton, the Inn’s Director of Guest Experience explains, “It is our hope that this new two-season air access will enable us to grow the economy of our island with more visitors from our neighbouring Canadian provinces, the USA, and beyond. The new service also removes the need for overnight connections and now allows New York and Boston visitors to reach us all in one day.”
There are seven seasons in a Fogo Island year, with the Summer Season (July 1 to August 31) and Berry Season (September 1 to October 31) being a perfect time for all things outdoors on this remote island off the island of Newfoundland. Fogo Island’s slightly cooler temperatures make this the perfect time for visiting city-dwellers to cool down, get outdoors, and amble through the island’s footpaths and trails. Mid-year, Fogo Island is absolutely abuzz with festivals, punts out on the water, local museum tours, fishing expeditions inland and on the ocean, visits to gardens and root cellars, pond swimming, bonfire nights, and maybe even a dip in the North Atlantic at Sandy Cove beach. Community Hosts and the Inn’s experienced outdoor adventure guides are always available to lead guests to points of interest and into unexpected cultural happenings around the island.
