Travel and Leisure World’s Best Awards 2017
Fogo Island Inn received the Travel + Leisure’s Global Vision Award for Culture in 2013, and similarly placed on their 2014 It List. On July 11, 2017 the Inn was named 12th on Travel + Leisure’s list of the Top 100 hotels in the world, and was also named by their readers as Best Resort Hotel, Canada in the Travel + Leisure World’s Best Awards 2017 readers’ survey, the leading barometer of the top travel destinations and companies in the U.S. and around the globe. "Many generations of Fogo Islanders would be proud to know that our Island and its culture and hospitality are so appreciated by our guests. This past year, Travel + Leisure editors asked readers across the globe to report on their best travel experiences. To produce the 22nd annual Travel + Leisure Readers’ Choice Best List, readers rated properties based on characteristics such as facilities, rooms, location and food. “Travel + Leisure’s annual World’s Best Awards provide a picture of what the world’s most discerning travelers are finding most satisfying in travel right now. What’s clear to me this year is how much they are drawn to experiences that aren’t just enjoyable but provide something richer—cultural immersion, mental and physical wellbeing, a true sense of adventure,” said Travel + Leisure Editor in Chief Nathan Lump. “It’s not easy to satisfy this group, but the destinations, hotels, and companies that are doing it know that today’s traveler cares about a lot more than creature comforts.”
