The contemporary design of Fogo Island Inn and the vernacular architecture of fishing stages along the shores of Fogo Island have more in common than you’d think.
Join us for an exploration of the history of architecture and design principles that influence outport communities and how this history contributed to the design of contemporary buildings on our island.
We will be joined by the Inn’s architect,Todd Saunders, as well local designers and builders, who will lead you on explorations of a traditional saltbox home, the Punt Premises – an interactive cultural interpretation centre that shares the history and knowledge of the inshore fishery, Fogo Island Arts’ artist studios, and local fishing stages.
