Icy Adventures with Dr. TA Loeffler This Pack Ice Season
Fogo Island’s still-wild world is a paradise for adventurers. The Island’s frozen bogs, barrens, shorelines, and hills are ideal for crawling, climbing, jumping, hiking, trekking, and enjoying the sheer simplicity of being outside. During March's brief but beautiful Pack Ice Season, the Island's ice-ensconced landscapes are tempestuous, real, and absolutely still. Lauded explorer Dr. TA Loeffler returns to Fogo Island from March 29 - April 1, 2019 to lead guests on their discovery of this singular place at the very edge of the North American continent.
Dr. TA Loeffler has 30 years of experience leading people through life-changing excursions. Her travels have taken her to 52 countries and all seven continents. TA has impressively completed six (and four-fifths) of the Seven Summits—the highest peaks on all seven continents. In 2015, Canadian Geographic named Dr. TA Loeffler one of “Canada’s Greatest Explorers.” As a Professor of Outdoor Recreation at Memorial University of Newfoundland, Dr. TA Loeffler has developed a reputation for excellence in experiential education. Her students are more likely to be outside chasing icebergs than sitting in a classroom.
This limited engagement weekend of winter excursions and outdoor adventures with one of the world’s leading explorers is a full-board, three-night stay. It includes: all meals, an Island Orientation with a Community Host, and a range of outdoor activities led by Dr. TA Loeffler. Family suites are available.
