Beau’s Relaunches Fogo Island Inn Collaborative Beer 49° 54°

What began as a small batch brew conceived of in 2016 to celebrate Canada’s 150th birthday is back. On October 25, 2018, Beau’s All Natural Brewing Co. relaunched 49° 54°, the distinct myrrh-smoked gose created in collaboration with Fogo Island Inn. Following a week of outport immersion in 2016 foraging for wild foods and inspiration throughout Fogo Island’s barrens, bogs, and singular landscapes, Beau’s married hand-picked partridgeberries, sea salt harvested from our shores, and bark from Fogo Island’s paper birch trees to create a beer smoky with aromas of incense and brine, and a mildly tart, nicely balanced, sweet finish.

Named after Fogo Island’s geographic coordinates, 49° 54° was the first in a year-long series celebrating the provinces and territories of Canada during its sesquicentennial celebrations of 2017. The place-specific, hazy orange brew is now available in the Inn’s Dining Room and Lounge, as well as across Ontario and Quebec.

You can listen to the second episode of Beau's podcast Lagered Tales featuring Shorefast CFO Diane Hodgins discussing the collaboration here: https://beaus.ca/lagered-tales-episode-two-david-ridgen/.
